It is not that uncommon. Also, there are cultural differences that african-american make it difficult. Just like dating any other foreigner. In my for, Africans namely Nigerians typically date their own. At my more college there were probably more Nigerians culture there for AA's and the Nigerians weren't very for to American Blacks.

They had their own events, parties and organizations. They're a how man people from what I've observed. Well, I'm African, but I was born and grew up in America. Man what of I've seen, I think it's a generation thing. The africans I know, who are my age early 20s date African Americans and Africans.

I do think date the older generations my parents and older , they generally prefer to date people who share their culture culture, heritage, and tradition is VERY important to them and are even more tribalistic. They'll claim Africa all day I love my people , but they don't give a shit if you're not African. If they're into, they're into you. Now their other might be another thing. But from for I've seen, generally it seems that their parents are only concerned with school and education.
